Update On Our Ante-Post Bets

| September 7, 2010 | Reply

I thought it was about time I provided you with an update on how our ante-post bets are faring.

This type of bet requires heaps of patience but when they come off, the rewards can be plentiful.

In the world of Formula One we have two bets…

Lewis Hamilton to win over 4.5 races…

And Hamilton and Button to finish first and second in the World Championship.

With six races to go, each of these bets is up in the air.

Hamilton is looking good with three wins to his name (including one last time out).

He heads the standings and needs two wins from the last six grand prix to make our first bet a winner.

Button would have been right on Hamilton’s tail were it not for Sebastian Vettel ruining his race last time out.

Fortunately, with 25 points for a win, there is still time to make up the 32 point deficit to second placed Mark Webber.

Over in Moto GP we had an outside bet on Dani Pedrosa to win the World Championship.

Dani promptly crashed out of the very next race but is still in with a shout, following two wins on the bounce.

Six races remain in this one.

Football is the setting for our remaining ante-post bets.

Here we have Liverpool to finish in the top four and Arsenal not to finish in the top four…

Both very early days.

Kris Boyd to finish as the Championship top scorer…

Early days but Kris is off the mark, with a goal against Sheffield United.

Barnsley to finish in the top six…

Also early days but a very promising start, with Barnsley currently joint fifth, despite taking on some very good teams in Middlesbrough, Bristol City, Crystal Palace and QPR.

And finally, Stuart Pearce to be the next England manager…

Now I know not all of you managed to get the 12/1 on this but for those of you that did and those that got a similar price, well done!

Capello kept his job and with results like the one against Bulgaria, will continue to keep his job until the conclusion of Euro 2012.

This will give Stuart Pearce a great chance of being offered the reigns when the Italian does finally depart.

Pearce is continuing to do a good job with the under 21’s – he led them to an away victory in Portugal on Friday…

And his prospects were further boosted in mid-August when FA director of communications Adrian Bevington said: “The view beyond that (2012), based on the discussions I’ve been involved in, is that we should have an English manager.”
