Tipster League – Recording Criteria

| February 1, 2018 | Reply

Results will be recorded on the following basis:

  1. Advised point stakes will be used on all selections. The exception being where a tipster uses multiple points as their standard stake in which case this will be converted to equivalent single point stakes. For example, a tipster using 10 points as the norm will be converted to 1 point for a 10-point stake, 2 points for a 20-point stake, 0.5 point for a 5-point stake etc.
  2. Where no advised stakes are given then flat one-point stakes will be recorded, split 50:50 in the event of each-way selections.
  3. Advised odds will be recorded for all selections. However, these will be closely monitored, and where they are found to be consistently unavailable at the time of receipt of the tips, next best odds will be applied to that tipster.
  4. Best odds guaranteed (BOG) will not be applied due to the unavailability of this promotion with some bookmakers and the regularity with which punters are now having this benefit rescinded.
  5. For each-way selections the standard UK horse racing terms will be applied:
    a. Less than 5 runners – no each way betting available
    b. 5-7 runners – first two places @ 1/4 odds
    c. All non-handicaps of 8 or more runners – first three places @ 1/5 odds
    d. Handicaps up to 11 runners – first three places @ 1/5 odds
    e. Handicaps of 12-15 runners – first three places @ 1/4 odds
    f. Handicaps of 16 or more runners – first four places @ 1/4 odds. Where a “big” race is offered by the majority of bookmakers with enhanced place terms then these will be applied.
  6. Where no starting bank is stipulated we will use 100 points as the default.
  7. For return on capital calculations we will amend the advised starting bank for tipsters affected by clause 1 to reflect the level of the stakes being recorded.
  8. Ante-post selections will be recorded in the month in which the bet settles. For multi-day events such as golf, the settlement date will be the last day of the tournament (usually the Sunday).
  9. Any tipster who falls into a negative bank position in the month will be disqualified from that month’s league table, regardless of where they end the month. For example, where a starting bank of 75 points is recommended, if the cumulative loss for the month hits 76 points then that would lead to disqualification.
