Skip Work, Win Money, Job Done

I woke up this morning feeling a wee bit rough but with racing’s four day York Ebor festival starting today, I felt obliged to force myself out of bed.

I do however, have no intention of doing any work once racing gets underway at 2pm and, because I’m a bad influence, I want you to join me.

So, in the spirit of secondary school, pack away your books because you won’t be needing them anymore…

All you require for the rest of the day is my Wednesday afternoon skive guide.

You’ve had your lunch and maybe a cheeky pint to boot but work can take a hike, it’s time for the first race of interest.

The 2:00 is a slightly mental 20 runner handicap affair but I fancy a nibble…

That nibble will be on Kanaf, who had a troubled ride last time out at Goodwood but with a clearer run today should claim at least a place.

Back Kanaf each-way (1/4 the odds, 4 places) at 11/1 with and William HillWilliam Hill Sports.

After the opener, spend a few minutes responding to emails, sending out new emails and just generally talking about emails so as not to raise suspicion, then have a couple of quid on Entifaadha in the 2:30.

This two year old scores highly on the (admittedly limited) trends and having won comfortably first time out he can double up today.

Entifaadha is currently a best priced 6.8 with Betfair.

Take a break, you’ve earned it, but make sure you’re back at your desk in time to get on Namibian in the 3:05.

This is the horse that just keeps on giving and he plugged away admirably to win at both Goodwood and Ascot earlier on in the season.

After a long campaign there are bound to be question marks over his ability to make it a hat-trick but I can’t see him out of the top three, so 5/1 each-way looks fair enough to me…

Get on with Bet Victor, who’ll pay you ¼ the odds the top three.

If you really must do some work then now’s the time for it as this one looks tricky, with Await The Dawn looking the best prospect but only available at 5/6.

But then again, what do you owe work?

What has work ever done for you?

Put down your pen and take Await The Dawn along with Midday and pair them off in a juicy reverse forecast…

Twice Over is too inconsistent for my liking and the other two horses are no hopers, so while forecasts aren’t everybody’s cup of tea, it makes perfect sense here.

Talking of tea, make yourself a cup – if you get too engrossed in your computer screen people will get suspicious – and then pile into West Leake Hare in the 4:15.

Old Leakey came so close to giving me a bumper payout at Goodwood, pipped on the line by a bob of the head…

He can make amends here though and 5/1 with BETFRED, Tote Sport and Bet Victor is fair enough.

Tell your boss that your nan is stuck up a tree and you have to leave immediately, then get out of the office before he has time to question you.

Your work for the day is done.
