A final assessment will be given at the end of the three months, but a reasonable start. At just £19.95 per month or £39.95 per quarter this is a service at the “value” end of the pricing scale. With almost 40-points of profit in the last three months I am happy to award a VFM pass based on our review.

Quality of Customer Service?

Part of the Tipster Street stable of tipsters and benefits from the infrastructure that comes from that. My communication with the owner Neil has always been very professional and timely. When I have used the support link through the website – for other Tipster Street services not this one specifically – I have always received a prompt and helpful response.

Tipster Street undertake to respond to all e-mail enquiries within 24 hours. Not tested.

Shane Murphy has been providing his Irish racing tips through the Tipster Street platform since June 2014. When we last looked at this service between February and May 2018 it had two good months but ended with an overall loss as the wheels came off somewhat in the final month. I said at the time that “the best thing may be a watching brief to see if the long-term upward trend can be re-established” and so, a year on we take another look to see where Shane Murphy is today.

Selections cover all forms of racing in Ireland – national hunt, flat turf and flat all-weather. You can expect on average 40-50 bets per month. All tips are advised at two points, either two points to win or one point each-way. It really is as straightforward as that.

Daily tips (including Sundays) are delivered by e-mail between 09:00 and 11:00 on the morning of racing and an e-mail is sent confirming if there are no bets that day. The advised odds given on the email have generally been available in more than one place when I have made spot checks on them.

There’s not much more to say about this very straightforward service, no complex staking plans, just simple single win and each way selections using flat-rate stakes. The real story behind this tipster is his results.

Results for Month 1 (12th March to 11th April 2019)

There were 43 selections in the first month of the review, completely in line with the expected level of activity. Of those, 17 won for a strike rate of 39.53%. In addition, there were a couple of placed each-way selections. The final profit for the month was 9.05 points, a performance that exceeds the historic monthly average for this service.

There were no significant losing runs as the winners were spread evenly across the period.

The average odds of all the selections this month was 5.34 (just under 9/2). The winning selections though had an average of just 2.64 (just over 6/4), with a narrow range of 1.8 to 3.5.

The Return on Investment (ROI) was 10.06% and the Return on Capital (ROC) 9.05%. The net ROI, after deducting the cost of membership, was 7.06% at £10 per point stakes and 9.57% at £50 per point.

Results for Month 2 (12th April to 11th May 2019)

A purple patch on 5th and 6th May, which saw five winners and a place from six selections, ensured we ended the second month with a similar profit to the first. This month’s 9.72 point haul gives us a cumulative gain of 18.77 points after two months.

There were significantly more bets this month – 71 compared to 49 – and although the strike rate fell to 30.99%, the fact that the average price of the winners was virtually a full point higher at 3.6 (just over 5/2) meant the overall return was similar to last month.

As in the previous month, the winners were spread across the month, meaning the longest losing sequence endured was just seven selections – which just happened to be all of the selections across two days.

With a similar return from an increased number of selections, the ROI dropped to 6.85% this month. After two months the overall ROI now stands at 8.09%.

Results for Month 3 (12th May to 11th June 2019)

A third consecutive month of profit, this the biggest of the three at 20.79 points. The total profit for the three month’s of the review now stands at 39.56 points, giving us an average monthly profit of just over 13-points, more than double the claimed historic performance for this service.

Although the average odds of the winning selections fell slightly this month to 3.24 (just about 9/4), this was offset by both an increase in the strike rate to 35% (21/60) and a drop in the total number of bets.

Once again the winners appeared evenly throughout the month, the worst run being a sequence of eight that had no winners but did have a placed selection.

This month’s return on investment (ROI) was a very healthy 15.75% and means the ROI across the whole review period hit double figures at 10.87%. If you take into account the cost of membership based on three individual monthly payments then the net ROI becomes 9.07% at £10 per point stakes and 10.5% at £50 per point.

Summary at End of Month 1

A profitable month that exceeded the historic average monthly profit performance. However, we saw in our previous review of this tipster that it is the overall performance that is important not an individual good month. Nonetheless, a good start to the review period.

Summary at End of Month 2

A second month of 9-points profit, albeit from a greater number of bets and hence with a lower ROI. We now have two months which have exceeded the historic average, so the service is obviously in a good run of form.

Summary at End of Month 3

The good form continued with the best month of the review. Looking at the review period alone, you would have to say that this service has performed exceptionally well, and significantly ahead of its historic benchmarks.
