Quality of customer service?

Betfan always good on this aspect

This new service was launched in a fanfare of marketing with the long established Simon Holden telling us how wonderful things were going to be. In essence he had teamed up with a technical guru to allow better determination of trends and thus achieve improved results ahead of the markets falling in line. It was stressed that this was not a system based service but uses a number of strategies based on analysis of tracks trainers and jockeys. The video trailer for the service advised that the service would change the way subscribers think about racing forever. So a lot to live up to when it all went live.

As with all Betfan products the technical delivery is excellent and on signing up you receive a welcome email which emphasises the background to the service and sets out the staking recommendations. Here it also explains that because lay and back betting is involved their results will be recorded at BSP but there is no reason why subscribers should not take advantage of BOG prices for the back element of the service.

It is recommended that a 200 point bank be set aside for the service betting (“to give us a comfort zone and means we are stress free should blips occur in both trends and they will several times a year”) with all selections advised at a 1 point stake. Selection emails are normally received around 9am on the day of racing and may also be found on the member’s area of the website.

Back Bets:

In all but 2 months there have been 106 runners and 14 of these have won. Prices have ranged from odds on to 71 (Industry) or 130 Betfair. The best priced winner was 17 Industry or 16.50 at BSP and with the prices generally coming in from the time of advice backing at BOG prices would have minimised the losses seen – 26.2 points at BSP or 20.8 for BOG. The best point in the trial was showing a 10.8 point profit but generally the bank has been in drawdown. Losing runs of 10+ have been seen several times with the worst being 15 races.

Lay Bets

Fewer selections here – 39 – with 15 defying the hope and winning their race. With the odds averaging just 3.74 at BSP this has not been a disaster and although never in profit a drawdown of 6.3 points is the end result. You certainly needed some chutzpah to lay many of the selections advised but it would not take a great change in fortune to show a profit on this element of the service.

So overall we have seen a loss of 32.5 points at BSP which is hardly encouraging, nor reflective of the results achieved prior to the launch. If this is one of the blips referred to in the welcome email then should they occur several times in a year as anticipated there will be little left in the bank. When you factor in 2 months subscription at the high end of the market the picture is poor indeed.

In the light of these results we could not recommend the service although the trial has been for a relatively short period and so may not be fully representative.
