The author asked us to undertake a review of his service which is always a plus point. He has developed a system based selection process for laying the place in horse racing (although you would not be ware of this from reading the website!) and will send an email advice of selections daily on the morning of racing.

It is the intention that bets be placed on receipt of the email although the possibility of non runners on some races will potentially impact the outcome. If you have the time, or a suitable bot, you could place at or near the off using BSP.

A bank of 150 points is recommended with 1 point staking so with prices of between 2 and 4 normally you are risking up to 2% of your bank. Historic data indicates a 70% strike rate which would yield an approximate 10 point profit per 100 bets.

I have delayed the initial review findings as since the launch of the service there have been refinements (including 2 price reductions) and we are now faced with filtering the selections manually at the off to see if the horse is 4th, 5th or 8th and greater Betfair favourite. I’m not sure if there is a bot available that will do this and make sure you are placing your bets in the correct market – if a race is reduced below 8 runners then you are instructed to use the 2 place market rather than the main place market which would of course retain the 3 place criterion. So if you are not prepared to watch the live racing this service is not going to be for you. And even if you are it may not be straightforward to decide if a selection qualifies – take the 2.10 at Redcar on 7 October. The selected horse set off at place odds of 3.36 and was 3rd favourite thus not qualifying. The 4th favourite had odds of 3.38 for the place and it would be surprising if the positions had not fluctuated near the off. A subscriber would have to decide how near to the off he places his bet and so could have easily made the wrong choice here (which would have meant placing a bet and the horse then winning the race) even though it was the right choice when made.

In a month since the filters have been applied there have been 42 qualifying runners (from 89 possibles) and 29 have been successful resulting in a 2.32 point loss. The average odds for that period have been a shade under 4 with prices ranging up to 8.68.

For those that like to bet as layers then the place markets are attractive with the relatively low odds that can be achieved. However, the service or system needs to be practical in operation as well as profitable and thus far the Betting Mastermind is not meeting either of those targets. It appears that the service was launched before full testing had been completed and I imagine most beta testers would have suggested that improvement was required in order to offer an attractive product.

As things stand we could not recommend subscribing to the service genuine as it undoubtedly is.
