  1. Pete says:

    Matt,

Sorry, not related to this post – I’m just using it because it’s the most recent…

Good luck with the 10k run tomorrow. In aid of anything?

    Pete

  2. Matt Houghton Matt Houghton says:

    Thanks Pete.

It’s for Macmillan Cancer Support, although I also fancied a bit of a challenge (and believe me, cutting down on the beer and takeaways has been a challenge!!)

I’ve gone down the traditional paper route for spnsorship, hence why no mention of it in the Betting Rant but if you or anybody else does want to make a donation to Macmillan, you can do so here…

    https://secure.macmillan.org.uk/donateonline/donations.aspx?id=default

  3. Pete says:

Good for you Matt – hope the heat doesn’t get going too early. And no qualifiers for HHH today – means you can stay on & get stuck back into those beers sooner than you thought!

I know how you feel, I used to do the 10k at the Tower every year for the BHF – kept being lapped by this 90 year old bloke who’d had a triple bypass though!

Just sponsored someone for the GNR for MacMillan actually – great cause.

I am part of a fundraising group for Cancer Research UK in The City. We’ve been going 21 years now & we’re trying to pass the £1 million mark this year since we started. Maybe I’ll have to send you an invite when we run our next sports quiz! Mind you, our home venue just shut down so we need a new one.

One request, if I may. On the HHH page, could you resequence it so the most recent day is at the top? As time goes on it’s going to take longer & longer to scroll through to the bottom. Call me Mr Lazy but … OK it’s a fair cop!

Peter – sorry for hijacking your post, I’ll stop now!

  4. Matt Houghton Matt Houghton says:

Well, I made it, and in 48 minutes too – just 22 minutes to shave off my time and I’ll be in World Record territory…

As for resequencing the posts, I have been meaning to do that for a while now but keep forgetting about it. I’ll make sure it’s done at some point today.

  5. Keith bate says:

    Hi matt,
just a quick update on Nigel’s nags. Another winner today (11/8 sp) to add to the one yesterday (8/8/11).
I am now starting to make a decent profit as I started out at only £1 per point but increased to £3 last week when I saw it was a winning system.
Has peter’s picks ended ? he broke even and HHH is not doing well either but that could still go either way.

  6. Matt Houghton Matt Houghton says:

    Hi Keith,

Yeah, I’ve been really pleased with Nigel’s selections, they’re going very well indeed.

Peter is still sending selections over, I’ve just been far too busy to post them on the site the last few days but they will be starting up again from this afternoon/evening.

    Matt

  7. Peter Kneil says:

Don’t worry Keith, Peter’s Picks is still up and running! Glad to see someone has missed them. Unfortunately quite a few winners have been missed recently, although that’s offset by a few missed losers earlier on. Just about treading water at the moment but that’s quite normal, every now and then I’ll hit a purple patch and the general trend is still up. The experiment with level stakes at £10 per point at SP didn’t do me any favours either, I’m much happier now I’m back to my usual method of taking early prices and risking between 1-10 pts per race. I’m not sure what figures I was looking at when I claimed 30% ROI at the start but it’s actually nearer to 7%, not brilliant but pretty steady. There’s also a couple of typos:
18th July – gained 5pts, bank grew by 0.5pts, 21st July – lost 7.5pts, bank decreased by 33pts! 4th Aug – Polar Annie should have been 3pts (I always do 3pts at 7-2 if you look at the other bets) That’s another 29 or so pts to add but I’m confident that it won’t matter in the long run anyway.

If you, or anyone else for that matter, want to be added to my daily email, please email me at pkneil@talk21.com and put Free Trial in the subject box. I look forward to hearing from you soon and I hope we’ll back lots of winners together!

    Peter

  8. Peter Kneil says:

PS I too am interested in Nigel’s Nags. I understand that the trial spaces have been filled. Are the tips available to buy yet?

    Peter

  9. Matt Houghton Matt Houghton says:

Not yet no but as the trial is currently well in profit I’m sure it’s only a matter of time.

I’ll go through and edit any errors with this page when I get a chance.

  10. Matt Houghton Matt Houghton says:

    Hi Peter,

Mistakes amended – not sure what happened with that 33pt one!!

    Matt

  11. Peter Kneil says:

Thanks for the amendments Matt, think the 33pt one was just after the switch from 10pt level stakes. Thanks also for not having time to put up the recent bad run of losers!

  12. Peter Kneil says:

Did a 10k run myself yesterday Matt, fairly happy with 51.17, although the winner did it in 31.39!

Good day for my tips today, although I did fear a 38pts loss at one stage!

  13. Matt Houghton Matt Houghton says:

Yeah it’s mad isn’t it?! I’m not sure I could go at a winners pace for 2k let alone 10! Did you do it for any particular reason or just for the craic?

  14. Peter Kneil says:

Just because “it was there” really. Joined the running club last year and a few of the others enter quite a few outside events so I tagged along. Have done a half marathon but not sure I’m quite ready for the real thing just yet!
