How Much Money Do I Need to Get Started?

A starting bank of 100-points is recommended for this tipster.

How Much Money Can I Make?

Although there are no specific claims made, a look at the detailed results spreadsheet on the website shows profits of 139.25 points at BOG, but losses of 98.97 points at SP and 7.03 points to Betfair SP, between July 2018 and October 2019. There is no record to advised prices without BOG.

How Much Time Will I Need to Make This Work?

Generally there are only one or two tips on days with selections. All bets are win or each-way singles and there is no complicated staking plan. Therefore, it is a matter of a few minutes to place the bets on days when tips are provided.

Will I Need Any Equipment to Do This?

A PC, laptop, tablet or smartphone with an internet connection and access to a range of online bookmaker accounts to increase the opportunity to maximise the price as often as possible.

Value for Money?

As always, I will wait for the end of the three months before offering a conclusion here.

Quality of Customer Service?

Contact details could be clearer and easier to find.

There is no “Contact Us” page on the website and the “Create New Ticket” option which is hidden at the bottom of each page returns an error. The email address is only listed under one of the frequently asked questions so you will only find it if you happen to read the answer to the right question.

Contact may improve under the members’ area, but this has not been tested.

Andy, the man behind Gatespeed, is described on the BetHub website as “a very talented young form reader”. The service is very selective with around 20 tips per month being the norm. The website states that Gatespeed “will only tip when he feels there is serious value to be had”. There certainly are not tips every day with this tipster.

The timing of the email advices varies greatly and although many arrive long before the race time, we have seen others arrive within an hour or two of the off. The email includes an analysis of the selection(s), usually running to two or three sentences. All of the basic information required to place the bet is clearly presented and easily followed. BetHub have recently introduced an app (Android and IOS) for members to speed up the delivery of tips. The selections are also available in the members’ area of the website.

Stakes range from one- to three-points and selections can be win or each way. Gatespeed makes use of the ante-post markets from time to time as well.

The detailed results spreadsheet on the website shows profits of 139.25 points at BOG, but losses of 98.97 points at SP and 7.03 points to Betfair SP, between July 2018 and October 2019. There is no record of the results to advised prices without BOG.

Results – Month 1 (25th October to 24th November 2019)

There were just 11 selections in this period with two of the first four runners winning. Both of those successes came at 7/1and were one-point win stakes. The seven bets in the month following the second winner all lost at a cost of 11.5 points. Overall the month just about broke even, with the actual result being a tiny loss of just half-a-point.

The average odds of the selections this month was 8.05, so almost exactly the same as the two winners. The range of odds was between 4.5 (7/2) and 13.0 (12/1), with both double-digit selections being advised each-way. Neither each-way selection was placed.

Average stakes in the month were 1.5 points per bet.

Summary at End of Month 1

A breakeven month to start the review, with the recommended bank being reduced by the monthly subscription cost rather than the tiny betting losses.
