Football Winner

How Much Money Do I Need to Get Started?

A betting bank of 100-points is recommended for this service.

How Much Money Can I Make?

The Football Winner web page claims £23,502.50 profit from £100 per point stakes since May 2018. This is the equivalent of an average profit of around 20-points per month.

They also claim a strike rate of 60% and a return on investment (ROI) of 16.4%.

How Much Time Will I Need to Make This Work?

There are generally between six and ten tips each week spread across the weekend (Friday to Monday). The bookmakers offering the advised odds are listed on the email and as all bets are on the 1X2 market they are easy to find and place with any of the bookmakers. There are occasional doubles recommended, but even then it shouldn’t take more than 10 minutes to get the bets placed once the email is received.

Will I Need Any Equipment to Do This?

A laptop, PC, tablet or smartphone with internet connectivity and access to a range of bookmakers.

Value for Money?

At £14.95 plus VAT this is definitely at the value end of the price range, but we will wait for the end of the review to see if that still equates to value for money. Although there was a small loss over the course of the three months, there was enough evidence to suggest that this service could work over the longer-term, especially considering that much of the review period fell in the break between seasons for the major European leagues. I’m going to hedge my bets here and say that at £17.94 per month (including VAT) there is potential value here if the long-term results support it. Our partner service, Tipstars, suggests that the longer-term results are worthy of further consideration.

Quality of Customer Service?

The communication I had when setting up the review was professional and timely. The web page indicates that the email account is monitored between 09:00 and 17:00 Monday to Friday, so evening and weekend contact may incur a wait for a reply.

Football Winner is another service from Steve Hudson, whose Acca Tipster service was reviewed last month. This service operates in the 1X2 (home/draw/away) markets of the main European football leagues such as the English Premier League, La Liga, Serie A, Bundesliga etc. The service runs 52 weeks of the year and in the summer months will incorporate major international tournaments and some of the lesser European leagues whose seasons are still running.

Selections are emailed to members every Friday for that weekend’s (Friday to Monday) matches. A separate email is sent for any midweek matches when the fixtures dictate. The vast majority of selections are singles, although occasional doubles and trebles may be recommended if the matches lend themselves to these types of bets. The email contains all of the details of the matches – date, time and league – along with the bookmakers offering the advised odds on each match. The email generally arrives before lunchtime.

All of the tips are staked at a flat five-points per bet.

The Football Winner service has been built on Steve’s observation that bookmakers have the lowest edge on the 1X2 market compared to the myriad of other football markets that now exist. This has led to Football Winner’s three-stage philosophy:
• Bet on the most profitable market
• Keep the bets simple
• Be disciplined

The discipline comes as much from knowing what not to bet on as much as what teams to tip.

In that respect, this service is as straightforward as they come – receive the email, place the tips.

Football Winner was launched in May 2015 and according to the webpage has generated 235-points profit at an average of roughly 20-points per month. They also claim a strike rate of 60% and a return on investment of 16.4%.

Results – Month 1 (18th April to 17th May 2019)

A difficult start to the review period with a loss for the month of 13.48 points. However, remember all bets are staked at a flat five-points.

The month comprised 18 single bets, of which 11 won, and seven double bets, of which just one won. It was the failure of the doubles that cost the month with a loss of 25.56 points. The singles actually delivered a profit of just over 12-points for the period.

The average odds of the singles was a shade over 10/11 (1.93), with the winning selections averaging slightly lower at 1.86.

Results – Month 2 (18th May to 17th June 2019)

It looked like another difficult month was on the cards as we went into the May Bank Holiday Sunday/Monday games with a loss of 12.35 points on the board for the month. However, Charlton’s last-gasp win and an Italian double on the Sunday, followed by Aston Villa’s promotion to the Premier League on Monday, meant we got back to breakeven. The following two weekends then saw Liverpool crowned champions of Europe, as well as other winners in the Copa America, Euro 2020 qualifiers and Women’s World Cup amongst others, to carry the month to a profit of 12.28 points, which also all but eradicated the loss from Month 1.

This month comprised 17 single bets, of which nine won, and three double bets, all of which won. It was the transformation in the performance of the doubles that actually turned the overall result around. The profit from the three doubles was 12.28 points (no, that’s not a mistake, it was the same as the total profit for the month).  So it will come as no surprise that the singles achieved exactly breakeven for the period.

The average odds of the singles was 11/10 (2.1) whilst the winning singles averaged very similar to last month at 1.83.

Results – Month 3 (18th June to 17th July 2019)

The final period of the review covered four weekends but with just three selections on each. It was another mixed bag in terms of results, with the first and last weekends producing 12.28 points and 2.7 points of profit respectively. The two middle weekends on the other hand produced just a solitary win from six bets, with the weekend of 5th to 7th July drawing a complete blank. The upshot was a small overall loss for the month of 6.77 points. Combined with the previous two periods we end the review with a loss of 7.97 points.

The breakdown of bets this month was ten singles, of which five won, and two doubles of which one was successful. Over the three months we saw 25 winning singles from 45 selections (55.56%) and five winning doubles from 12 (41.67%).

The drawdown of 7.97% of the bank over three months is of no great concern over the long-term and we will only get a real feel for this service through a longer view.

Summary at End of Month 1

As we know, one month doesn’t define a service, and whilst it was a disappointing start there is time to turn the performance around.

Summary at End of Month 2

As I said last month, one month doesn’t define a service, and we have now seen two vastly contrasting months from Football Winner. The third and final month of the review should give us a clearer idea of which is the most representative of the service.

Summary at End of Month 3

Unfortunately, the final month didn’t really leave us any the wiser as to the true potential of this service, as the result meant we ended the review period with a small overall loss. However, the loss represented just 7.97% of the bank and suggests that a longer-term look is needed to get a real picture of the service.
