Football tips from the major European Leagues and occasionally from the Americas. Daily tips sent by e-mail are also available via the members’ area of the web site and via the mobile app.

Where to Buy:

The Football Guru

Brief Summary:
Predominantly match winner and match winner + BTTS (both teams to score) selections, with occasional handicap and correct score picks. All of the major European leagues are covered, with occasional tips from elsewhere in the world. Around 120-130 selections per month and often combined into multiples as well.

How Much Money Do I Need to Get Started?
Recommended starting bank is 150 points.

How Much Money Can I Make?
Claims of an average of £117.47 per month to £10 stakes. After three months trialling the tips we achieved an average of £133.50 per month to the same £10 stakes, so the claims are certainly realistic.

How Much Time Will I Need to Make This Work?
Up to 10-15 minutes when selections are received if you want to take best odds on each individual selection.

Will I Need Any Equipment to Do This?
Internet connection plus a mobile device or PC.

Value for Money?
The average monthly profit of £133.50 was achieved at an ROI of 5.2% which sort of tells the story. The review period was a real roller coaster, with plenty of highs and a good return overall but some real low points and bad runs thrown in for good measure. This is not your typical football tipster. Average odds are a touch over 7/2 and there is no hiding behind short-priced favourites. If you like plenty of action and can roll with the punches then this service is well worth following, even though the monthly fee is in the upper quartile of tipster charges.

Quality of Customer Service?
Has the backing of the established Betting Gods platform and all of my e-mails have been answered quickly and efficiently. There is a “live chat” option for contacting them as well.

Review
This service is very professional in its delivery as you would expect of a tipster from the Betting Gods platform. The system was launched in December 2015 so has a couple of years history behind it.

Tips are sent most days by e-mail, usually around 11:30-12:00 for weekend games and between 15:00 and 16:00 for midweek selections. These times are not set in stone and do occasionally vary. There is, however, the option to check on the members’ area of the website, and there is also a mobile app through which you can access the tips. Recently an alert has been added which flashes up on both desk tops and mobile devices when tips are posted on the web site, which is a great addition.

There was an issue on the first weekend of the trial when the kick off time of one selection was wrong and the tips only arrived shortly before the correct kick off time. An alternative selection was subsequently sent. As was inevitable, the original selection lost and the revised tip won. This has been recorded as a loser in the results though, as anyone who responded immediately to the e-mail would have been on the original selection.

There is no rationale given for the selections other than when there is only one or two matches tipped. On weekends, and midweeks when there is European football or a full set of league fixtures, the individual selections are combined into a Canadian (or Super Yankee) or a Goliath.

The odds advised with the selections are almost invariably available when the selections are received and there have been several occasions when better odds have been found. Staking is usually recommended at 2 points per single, 0.1 points for a Canadian (2.6 points total) and 0.01 points for a Goliath (2.47 points in total).

Results – Month 1 (November 25th to December 24th, 2017)
Rumour has it that the new ride at Alton Towers is going to be called The Football Guru! The first month of this trial has been an absolute roller coaster of a ride (see graph below). From a low of 52.92 points loss to a high point of 19.69 points profit, the month ended back where we started, recording a profit of just 0.955 of a point!

The huge spike came courtesy of a 4 out of 5 day (singles plus a Canadian) which resulted in a profit of over 63 points. The selections that day included Leicester to win at Southampton and both teams to score (BTTS) at 8.0 and Rangers to win at Hibernian and BTTS at 4.75. On the flip side, the worst day was a Saturday when all 8 selections lost resulting in a loss of 18.47 points (singles plus a Goliath).

The average odds of the individual selections was 3.28, so there is no hiding behind short-priced favourites. Of the 124 individual selections in the period, 44 were winners, a strike rate of 35.48%.

Although the first month ended at virtually breakeven, there was enough evidence to suggest that the claimed average profit is achievable. The strike rate of 35.48% is also in line with the 40.76% overall rate claimed on the web site. Months 2 and 3 will tell us more.

Results – Month 2 (December 25th 2017 to January 28th 2018)
The roller coaster ride didn’t abate at all in Month 2. From a low for the month of 15.38 points loss to a high point of 26.33 points profit, the good news was that Month 2 ended in a profit of 12.89 points.

The average odds of the individual selections was slightly higher than the previous month at 3.43. Of the 97 individual selections in the period, 37 were winners, a strike rate of 38.14%, so a 7.5% improvement over Month 1.

Overall, the profit for two months is 13.85 points, at an average of 6.925 per month. Furthermore, the strike rate of 36.65% is behind the 40.76% overall rate claimed on the web site. Month 2’s strike rate was closer at 38.14%.

Results – Month 3 (January 29th to February 24th 2018)

The third and final month of the review showed what this service is capable of: 26.2 points profit at an ROI of 10.26% and a strike rate of 41.28%. The highlight of the month was clearly Saturday 10th February with five of the eight individual selections winning, all wrapped up in a Goliath which returned over 10 points profit on its own. Once again, the month hit a low point of minus 33.88 points at one stage but, as in previous months, this was recovered and a third consecutive period of growing profit resulted.

Results – Overall (November 25th 2017 to February 24th 2018)

The overall result of the review period was 40.05 points profit at an ROI of 5.2% and a strike rate of 38.18%. The ROC for this service over the three months was a very healthy 26.7%. There was a total of 330 individual tips and these were often wrapped up in multiples ranging from doubles to Goliaths. The total points staked across those bets was 769.93 and, although there were several low points in the period, the starting bank was never seriously troubled.

Summary at end of Month 1
There was a total of 288.49 points staked during the first month and some significant bites into the bank, although never close to the recommended level of 150 points. There were 11 winning days and 16 losing days in the month when tips were sent, with a best run of 3 consecutive profits and a worst run of 5 consecutive losing days.

The style of this tipster will not appeal to anyone who struggles with substantial losses during a period as the types of tips, and the average odds, will inevitably lead to significant losing periods. However, for anyone who can ride out these periods for the types of winning day seen this month then there is enough evidence to suggest that long-term profitability should be achievable from this tipster.

The next two months will tell us more.

Summary at end of Month 2
The style of this tipster will not appeal to anyone who struggles with substantial losses during a period as the types of tips, and the average odds, will inevitably lead to significant losing periods. However, for anyone who can ride out these periods for the types of winning day that can occur then there is enough evidence to suggest that long-term profitability should be achievable from this tipster.
HOWEVER…….the profitability comes at an ROI of just 2.69% for the two months to date. A low ROI indicating significant investment is required to generate the profit (total stakes in our trial to date total 514.64 points, although the recommended starting bank has never been seriously threatened). Betting Gods themselves have removed all tipsters with an ROI below 10% from their web page, although the systems are still running.

Final Summary

A good profit achieved over the three month review but this service is not for the faint hearted! I have regularly referred to it as a roller coaster, and I can’t think of a better description! If you can deal with the losing runs and the downturns in profitability then the upsides and the consequent bank growth can be very rewarding.

This is not your typical football tipster and you should go into this service with that firmly in mind. Lots of action and a healthy profit at the end of the trial. I would rate this service 3.5 out of 5 stars based on the volatility that you have to be able to handle.

Remember, you can keep track of The Football Guru’s ongoing performance in The Tipster League.
