How Much Money Do I Need to Get Started?

A starting bank of 50-points is recommended by this service.

How Much Money Can I Make?

The website claims average monthly profits of £113 to £20 stakes, so around 5.5 points. However, a closer look reveals this is only up to August 2018 and if you look at the full results history that is provided, the actual position at the end of February 2019 is now a deficit of around 55-points.

How Much Time Will I Need to Make This Work?

The selections are straight win singles, with an occasional double, so it takes literally a few minutes each time a tips email is received.

Will I Need Any Equipment to Do This?

A laptop, PC, tablet or smartphone with Internet connectivity and access to a range of online bookmakers’ accounts.

Value for Money?

As always, I will defer a comment until the end of the review period.

Quality of Customer Service?

Full email support is provided seven-days a week according to the website, and they aim to reply within 24 hours. Although I haven’t had to use this during the review so far, I did get timely replies to my emails when setting up the review.

Contact can also be made via the members’ area of the website.

Centaur Planet Racing is run by a regular winner of BetInfo24’s tipping competition. It was that success in the competition that earned him a place as a paid for tipster on the platform in December 2017.

Selections are virtually all singles and all to win. There are occasional doubles, but these are few and far between, and there is also the possibility of an isolated instance of a treble as well. All stakes are one or two-points to win, with the exception of permed doubles which may drop to 0.5 points each.

The daily email is received at the rather odd time of 23:00 to 01:00. There is a follow up email around lunchtime on the day of racing with any additional selections. The email itself is very short and concise, giving just the race details, the selection and the advised odds. The stated odds are available at the time of delivery of the email but given the rather odd timing many people will probably act on the information the following morning when the prices may have changed.

As well as through the daily email, tips are also available in the members’ area of the website.

Although the headline figures on the website for this service indicate a positive performance since launch in December 2017, they are in fact only stated up to August 2018. They clearly need updating and a look at the detailed results provided show that at the end of February 2019 the overall cumulative position was a deficit of c.55 points.

Results – Month 1 (12th February to 11th March 2019)

The first month of the review ended at all but breakeven, the actual loss being just 0.06 of a point. However, that fails to tell the whole story of a month that reached a peak of +22.72 points, only to come crashing back down to the final breakeven position.

It wasn’t Valentines Day that provided the massacre though, in fact that day produced four out of six winners and a daily profit of 13.28 points. That seemed to have set the platform for a good month as more ups than downs carried us to the +22.72 points position. Unfortunately, from that point onwards there was just one winner from the next 22 bets, including a sequence of 17 consecutive losers. Only the final two bets of the month winning brought the position back to breakeven.

Technically this is still a loss for the month after taking into consideration the monthly membership fee.

The strike rate for the period was 27.93% and the average odds of all selections 5.38 (just under 9/2). The average odds of the wining selections for the month was down at 3.6 (just over 5/2).

There were two doubles and one treble in the month but none of them produced a return.

Summary at End of Month 1

The ability of Centaur Planet Racing to deliver a good run of results was evident from the first two-thirds of the period. However, the poor run in the final third undid all that good work. Ultimately no real damage was done, and we move on to Month 2.
