Beat The Bookmakers At Their Own Game

| April 4, 2014 | Reply

Bookmakers, by and large, are bastards.

I opened an account with Sporting Bet, placed a bet and won, I then tried to place a second bet and was told that my stakes had been restricted to £2 – bastards.

Totepool say they offer Best Odds Guaranteed but what they don’t make clear is that Best Odds Guaranteed DOESN’T apply when you place a bet within 20 minutes of the race – bastards.

888 don’t require any ID to open an account, deposit and place a bet but when you actually want to withdraw money they won’t budge until you’ve sent multiple forms of proof – bastards.

Fact of the matter is, day in day out, they do their best to exploit us so, what can we do to exploit them?

1) Take advantage of as many new account offers as possible

The vast majority of bookmakers offer free bets or deposit bonuses to new customers – there’s no downside to these, so use them.

Accounts are always free to open and if you want to avoid being swamped with email marketing just set up a new email account with a free provider (such as Hotmail or Gmail) and direct all of your bookie traffic there.

2) Be smart with these bonuses

Don’t lob them on a hopeful correct score or first goalscorer but rather use the free bets on something you were going to place anyway or, even better, in a way that guarantees you a profit.

Guaranteeing a profit from any bet might seem too good to be true but next week I’m going to be sharing a completely free report with you which will explain exactly how to do this.

3) Bonuses and free bets aren’t just for new customers

Every day there are a bundle of promotions going on throughout the sports betting world that apply to existing customers as well as new customers – take advantage of these too!

You will need to split these into offers worth doing and offers not worth doing as some of them are about as attractive as Eric Pickles in a swimsuit but, with the money to be made from the good ones, it’s certainly worthwhile.

4) ALWAYS read the terms and conditions

I really can’t stress this strongly enough – if you don’t check the T’s & C’s before availing of bookie offers it WILL cost you.

Bookmakers are crafty buggers at the best of times and the inclusion of one small condition can turn an excellent offer into an awful one.

Online casinos are particularly bad for this – a 100% deposit match may sound brilliant but when you have to stake 50 times your bonus (that’s £500 for a £10 bonus!) to make the cash withdrawable, it suddenly looks a lot less appealing.

5) Hound them on live chat and/or by phone

If you think you should be due a free bet but haven’t received it, if you think they’ve paid you out at standard odds rather than BOG odds or if you think you’ve been wronged in any other way, don’t just sit back and accept it, contact them.

It can be a bit of a hassle talking to some of the idiots on live chat (where they find these people I don’t know) but just treat them like little kids, typing slowly, simply and repeating yourself where necessary and, sooner or later, the penny will drop.

This can also be useful when you’re technically in the wrong – on multiple occasions I’ve fallen foul of a minor condition (that’s what I get for skim reading the T’s & C’s!) but, following a live chat sob story, I’ve managed to get my hands on exactly what I was after as a ‘gesture of good will’.

*****

As I mentioned earlier, there will be plenty more on this next week so I’ll leave it there for now but hopefully I’ve given you some food for thought.

Just as with dodgy tipsters we shouldn’t just sit back and accept exploitative bookmakers, we should stand up and do something about it…

In the case of tipsters it’s all about showing them up and hounding them out of the market but in the case of bookmakers it’s even more fun as we can actually profit from them.

Happy hunting!
