Advent Tips – December 7th

| December 7, 2010 | 2 Replies

Sometimes you just have to laugh don’t you? As if this run of bets hadn’t had a hard enough time of it already, Fernando Torres’s wife decided that last night of all nights would be a good time to go into labour! Although I suppose we should have seen it coming, seeing as the Nativity is almost upon us!

Fortunately, the vast majority of bookmakers and betting exchanges will refund all stakes on anytime goalscorer bets when the player in question doesn’t play any part of the match. As a result we had a neutral night, although I can’t help but feel disappointed that Torres wasn’t let loose on such a brittle backline.

Let’s hope we can break our duck (or should that be turkey?) tonight.

December 7th

Back Mark Williams to beat Stephen Hendry in the UK Championship with a -2.5 handicap. This bet is a best priced 4/5 with Paddy Power

Back the FC Twente vs. Tottenham Hotspur match to go over 2.5 goals. This is a best priced 10/11 with Stan James and Coral

Two bets today, partly due to yesterday’s voided offering but mainly down to the great value on offer.

With the exception of two frames,  Stephen Hendry was awful in his 9-8 victory over Jimmy White. Hendry has been struggling all season and were it not for an equally poor performance by White he would already be packing his bags.

Mark Williams on the other hand has enjoyed a real resurgence over the last couple of years and made short work of the in form Mark Davies in round one, running out a 9-3 winner.

Williams should win this at a canter. 9-6 will be enough to bring home the bacon.

Meanwhile, over in Holland FC Twente take on Spurs in a match that has goal fest written all over it. Twente are already certain of a 3rd place finish, so should play with a certain degree of freedom while Tottenham are in need of a win to guarantee top spot.

Spurs score goals by the bucketload but also concede them at quite a rate and have kept just three clean sheets in all competitions this season. Every single one of their seven Champions League matches have gone over 2.5 goals, making the 10/11 on offer more enticing than ‘that’ Setanta Christmas ad.

Well done mate, you’re up & running.

Good job too – I heard sportsmen & women across the land were starting to look nervously over their shoulders when you were tipping them! 😉

It wouldn’t have surprised me! When bets are being foiled by wives going into labour you know you’re not getting the rub of the green!

Anyway, I’m very glad to get that particular monkey off my back. Let’s hope we can bag another winner today.
