Midpoint Review 14/12/2011

When authors start talking about how they have reduced the price from what they think it could be or advise that it will rise after a certain number of members is on board my first thought is that they are clearly only really interested in what the service makes for them and not the client. If the bets work then they will make their cash by using these and the service is a bonus so either tell us that the price reflects the costs and a margin to make it worthwhile or shut up!

Following the traditional WIN formula this service is a straightforward email based operation with the tips also available from the member’s area if required. It is not a daily service as matches tend to be concentrated into the 3 weekend days and at present the Rugby League is not operating.

The emails are clear and leave no doubt as to which bets are being recommended and are normally received the day before the matches are played. With one exception the odds quoted have been available readily and are going to average around the 2.0 mark as handicap betting is the norm with the usual price being 1.91.

I would suggest that the rugby codes are the nearest thing to American football in predictability terms and assiduous form studiers can usually find some good value in the market place which is what this service is clearly trying to do. We are not very far into the trial in volume terms with 11 bets plus 1 ante post on the Heineken Cup having been received so far but only 4 of those 11 have been winners and I would expect better of a professional tipster in this field. For obvious reasons all the bets have been on the Union code to date 7 being handicap tips (1 winner) and the rest straight win bets.

At this stage of the trial we cannot really draw any conclusions or make a recommendation but a step up in form is required quickly if there is going to be any chance of these being positive.

Full Review 06/01/2012

At the end of the review period we have seen 30 tips of which 14 have won and thus there is a slight improvement on the interim position but an overall loss is still showing. All the tips have been for the Union code which is due to the close season for the League and the mainstay of the service is the handicap bet which usually has odds of 1.91.

In general the bookmakers are pretty good at these bets and they will not be quaking in their proverbial boots at the results we have seen here.

This quote from the Boxing Day email is perhaps telling:

“Last minute went against us yet again Xmas Eve, we are due the cards falling our way we will make good profits, we always do!!”

As a potential service subscriber I am assuming the expertise of the tipster will eliminate pretty much all of that sort of event. If their judgement relies on cards falling a particular way then we are all in trouble.

It has to be said, however, that the number of tips is insufficient to form a lasting judgement and we will continue to monitor the service for a further period. At the present time we could not recommend subscribing though.

Update 8/2/2012:

We have now been monitoring for 2 months and the loss on the bank is now 18 points. There have now been 60 tips in all with 28 winners and my disappointment with this service continues. We will carry on for a further month now that Rugby League is back on the scene and the 6 Nations might allow some improvement on the Union front.
