Professional gambler Dean has decided to share his horseracing selections with a view to starting up a fully fledged service – let’s see how they do.

Here’s what Dean has to say:

“My name is Dean. I am an ex accountant and professional gambler. I have received various money making proposals from you and I wondered if you and your customers would be interested in how I make money from betting.

I have been betting for many years and initially I was the typical mug punter however it didn’t take me long to put my analytical skills to good use to find an edge.

Horse racing is and has always been a huge passion of mine and I spend a great many hours studying form to arrive at my daily selections.

When I tell you that I have provided in excess of 1000 points profit at Betfair SP since June last year betting just 1pt each way on my selections you will understand why I think I have something to offer.

I want to make it clear at this stage that I do not want to sell the goose that lays the golden egg. My method will remain private so only the selections that I put my own money on every day will be available.

Patience and discipline are what let almost all bettors, gamblers, sports investors down. I don’t think I am anything special, my longest losing run was 35 in the win market, I lost 70 points in January 2012 yet have still racked up over 1000 points profit in nine months.

A losing streak of 35 would kill most people stone dead and put them off for life but because I have confidence in my ability, because I know what I am doing it’s all part of earning a crust in this industry.

I can provide my selections the evening before racing meaning even people who have no access to the internet during working hours can participate. I think my selections would also work well with a betting bot as I can provide a daily import for people who wish to use one to save time.”

I’ll post the results here, while Dean will post his selections in the comments section below.

Summary

I’m going to leave the updates here, though Dean may continue to post selections below. I’m afraid that the loss has simply been too high for this to be considered viable at present. Betting is all about the long term but this would have broken even a substantial bank in the testing period to date.

It is important to note that the results above were recorded to industry SP, so they would be slightly better if recorded to Betfair SP. Still not good enough however.

12 week trial total: -£1394.47 (-139.447 points)

  1. Dean says:

Simply back each selection 1pt win and place. I had a starting bank of £300
in Betfair on the 12th March. The bank is down right now and at the end of every month I will post a short video of me logging into my Betfair account and briefly going through the selections showing my current balance.

  2. Dean says:

    Monday Results
There were 9 selections today and they ended up as follows:

    0, 0, 2nd, 2nd, 1st, 0, 1st, 2nd, 2nd

Catherine’s Call looked over-priced to me at 15/2 on the overnight tissue so when she went off at 28.32 I was over-joyed! She came home and we ended up with a profit of 27.47 points on the day.

Since 12 March we have made a loss of 21.7 points but you see how fortunes can change in a matter of races.

    Tuesday Selections

    2.20 Market Rasen THEREDBALLOON
    2.30 Southwell (AW) CALEDONIA PRINCE

    4.20 Market Rasen HAMMER
    4.30 Southwell (AW) MARSH WARBLER

  4. Dean says:

    Wed Results
At time of writing there are two races to go at Kempton. But even if both are unplaced there will be a profit on the day as the finishing positions of the afternoon races were:

    0, 2nd, 1st, 0, 1st.

    Thursday
    3.35 Wolverhampton (AW) JARROW
    3.45 Newcastle MONTOYA´S SON
    4.10 Wolverhampton (AW) WIND STAR
    4.20 Newcastle KING´S CHORISTER
    4.50 Newcastle FABALU
    5.15 Wolverhampton (AW) LAUGHING JACK
    5.25 Newcastle HEATHER GLEN
    5.30 Limerick (IRE) MCTAGGART
    6.25 Kempton (AW) STRIDING EDGE

  5. Matt Houghton says:

To clarify the results, I will be posting them to industry SP, while Dean posts them to Betfair SP, hence the differences.

Obviously you’ll get better results to Betfair SP (as you would when backing early prices and using a best odds guaranteed bookmaker) but I want to ensure that we have as much info as possible on here, including the industry SP worst case scenario.

  6. Dean says:

Thanks Matt for clearing that up… Betfair is the way to go with my selections!!

    Thursday Results

    1st – 1st – 6th – 1st – 4th – 5th = +17.9 points profit @bsp

We got off to a good start when Champion elect Joe Fanning got Jarrow into a perfect position and landed the spoils at 6.95.

Montoya’s Son clambered over an early fence (4th?) but from 4 out it was never in doubt.

Benefit of hindsight and 1m4f may be just stretching a bit too far for Wind Star and will be worth a look again back at 10f.

King’s Chorister was a drifter during the early afternoon – fine by me, the horse doesn’t know he’s not fancied, but went on to win well at 7.4 BSP.

How far off the pace was Laughing Jack coming round the final bend – got caught in traffic and still finished with a wet sail to nab 3rd at place BSP 8.21. Hed he been closer coming of the bend….

McTaggart just ran out of legs at Limerick.

And in the last at Kempton we were right to take on the 1/4 fav but got the wrong horse.

    Friday Selections

We didn’t have a selection finish worse than 6th today but conversions were few and far between. Just one of those days. The flat starts tomorrow at Doncaster so we have selections from three different codes…all exciting stuff!

We are taking the kids away for half term; there will be no break in service as the laptop will be packed along-side the swimming trunks :-) but my emails will be short and sweet and my responses to queries will be limited until Monday 9th April.

Just to clarify, you are placing 2 bets per race. 1 to win and 1 to place. Is this correct.

    Thanks

  13. Dean says:

Internet is so bad here… I’ll pop into town tomorrow and place the bets and have a look at the P&L.

And for those having a punt in the Irish National I’ll be backing Western Charmer…BUT…this is not a selection as far as the service is concerned…this is a fun punt for me and will not be included in the results regardless of the outcome!

    4.50 Fairyhouse (IRE) WESTERN CHARMER

  17. Dean says:

Today, I thought we were very closes to having a very good day. A quick look at Betfair tells me we lost a couple of points but we had a 3rd that went off at BSP 34.72, a 2nd at BSP 17.5 another 2nd at 25.0 and a 3rd at 14.35. Just one of those converting and we are happy bunnies.

Salontyre was probably the unluckiest second place as the jockey did extremely well to finish after the saddle slipped. And Rocky Ryan was going well when he went wrong and I hope he is OK, we’ll find out tomorrow.

All in all we had two 1st, three 2nds and three 3rds.

As I said, all this will be in the results update tomorrow.

    Tuesday’s Selections

Nothing at Pontefract stands out but we still have 6 horses carrying my cash:

    3.30 Southwell (AW) LA CAPRIOSA
    4.15 Yarmouth KELPIE BLITZ

    4.45 Yarmouth JACK MY BOY
    5.05 Southwell (AW) FANTASY FRY
    5.15 Yarmouth LOVE YOU LOUIS

  18. Dean says:

Today saw a 2.43 point loss with just one winner and 2 other places from the six selections. Close but no jelly babies.

Thursday’s selections will be a tad later than usual. I am out tomorrow and not back until late afternoon. I should be able to get it to in-boxes by 10.30, maybe 11pm.

    Wed’s Selections

A lot more handicaps than usual tomorrow considering there are just 4 meetings:

    Thu Results

A 5.74 point loss today with the following finishing positions:

    0 – 0 – 0 – 1st – 3rd

I was asked the question “why do we continue to back these 20/1+ no-hopers?”

It’s a good question, in the past few days we’ve had selections that went off at BSP’s of anything up to 46.0. So why do we back these “no-hopers”?

Well, for a start not all favourites win races…about 70% of them don’t, so the market doesn’t get it right. How about the professionals, the handicappers? When was the last time all horses crossed the line in a dead heat? Never, so the handicapper doesn’t get it right. Sticking with the handicapper, why don’t we just back the best horse in the race, the top weighted? Again, saddle-cloth number 1 doesn’t always win races either.

The thing about handicaps is that, regardless of price, all the horses have a chance to win that race. It’s not like putting Finians Rainbow rated 178 in the same race as Pure Faith rated 140 and give them both 11st 10lb to carry and wonder which will finish in front of the other? (3.05 at Aintree tomorrow!).

You all have the detailed results. We’ve had winners at 46.0. 45.6, 34.0, 30.7 twice, 30.1, etc. They do come home from time to time. And when they do you sometimes get two in a day – 28 August and 22 September – check the results spreadsheet. We’ve had a horse that went of at 149.34 and was placed at 18.18 (28 Dec) and another at 84.1 placed at 13.27 (11 Jun).

So you see, they are not all no hopers. I find that watching the big priced horses that we have backed run well more satisfying than watching a horse backed at 2.7 romp home (See Rick’s run in the 5.25 today compared to Terfel’s Toscar’s in the 5.45.

No doubt this is a tough spell but this is how I make my money and it will change around without question.

    Fri Selections

    3.30 Leicester LAYLA´S HERO
    3.40 Aintree GONEBEYONDRECALL
    4.05 Leicester CAPE SAFARI
    4.50 Aintree I´M SO LUCKY
    5.45 Leicester SAVE THE BEES
    6.55 Wolverhampton (AW) CLOUDY START

  22. Dean says:

    Fri Results

A 10.09 point profit today with the following finishing positions:

    3rd – F – 1st – 0- 2nd – 1st

    Sat Selections

    2.00 Lingfield (AW) ADVANCED
    2.10 Newcastle BLUE DESTINATION
    2.45 Newcastle NEWPORT ARCH
    3.10 Chepstow SOUTHWAY STAR
    3.20 Newcastle SHAWKANTANGO
    3.25 Aintree NOLAND
    3.55 Newcastle ALLURING STAR
    4.50 Chepstow COTTAGE ACRE
    5.15 Lingfield (AW) SECRET QUEEN
    5.20 Chepstow MARCHAND D´ARGENT
    5.45 Lingfield (AW) PROHIBITION
    5.50 Chepstow MICHIGAN D´ISOP
    6.15 Wolverhampton (AW) SLEIGHTS BOY
    8.15 Wolverhampton (AW) BLACK COFFEE

Not a system bet and, therefore, not included in the results but I like these four:
4.15 Aintree SYNCHRONISED ; GILES CROSS; NEPTUNE COLLONGES; QUISCOVER FONTAINE

Good luck if you punt the national!

  23. Dean says:

    Sat Results

Currently, with one selection to go we are 9.22 points down with just one winner and another placed. Black Coffee will make the difference between an 11 point loss or a break even day.

Neptune Collonges ran a fabulous race and ensured a winning day for some of us…thank you for the emails :-)

    Sun Selections

This happens from time to time; just the one selection for tomorrow:

3.35 Market Rasen BE MY LIGHT

  24. Dean says:

    ADVANCE WARNING
I’m off to Cheltenham on Thursday and Fontwell on Friday so the selections will be sent out late – after 10pm on both days.

Just the two meetings tomorrow and 4 chances for us…

    Mon Selections

    3.15 Wolverhampton (AW) PITTODRIE STAR
    4.30 Windsor BORUG
    5.00 Windsor AVONMORE STAR
    5.30 Windsor SHALAMBAR

  25. Dean says:

    Mon Results

    ADVANCE WARNING
I’m off to Cheltenham on Thursday and Fontwell on Friday so the selections will be sent out late – probably after 10pm on both days. I have already got the cards for both those days and I will start work on them tomorrow and Wednesday to try and speed up the process.

Pittodrie Star ran a good race but came up against a better horse on the day and only managed 2nd at BSP 1.49

Borug had absolutely no luck in running but finished with a wet sail and were the race be run again with a little more going for him in running and a win would not be discounted at a huge price. Still, a nice second place at BSP 5.56

Avonmore Star was Timeform top rated and got a good start but found nothing under pressure and was well beaten.

Looks like Shalambar didn’t fancy it today and finished about 6th.

Overall a 1.2 point loss today.

    Tue Selections

With the jumps drawing to a close we’ll have fewer national hunt selections so just the two for tomorrow:

    3.30 Exeter FAIROAK LAD
    4.40 Southwell (AW) OSTENTATION

  26. Dean says:

I thought we’d done our dough before the end of the first circuit in the marathon at Exeter. Fairoak Lad made a big mistake at about fence 4 and came off the bridle. But settled down again to make good headway to finish well for third place.

Ostentation, in the 4.40 at Southwell, went off a warm favourite but I’m not sure Brett Doyle handled the horse very well and I think that more could have been asked of the horse. In any event he only managed second.

Two selections and two places. Overall a 0.62 point loss today.

    Wed Selections

I was asked why the number of selections have dropped away…it’s purely the fact that the National Hunt season is all but over and the flat barely begun. But, even in the height of the summer or winter there are some days when there are no selections at all.

    3.10 Cheltenham RASLAN
    5.30 Cheltenham TONIC MELLYSSE
    7.35 Kempton (AW) SAINT HELENA

  27. Dean says:

    Wed Results

    ADVANCE WARNING
I’m off to Cheltenham tomorrow and Fontwell on Friday so the selections will be sent out late – probably after 10pm on both days. If anyone is around those courses during racing then I would be delighted to meet up and chew the cud (I hope you can make Fontwell, Andy)!

Raslan gave us a run for our money but faded quickly considering he’s won well over 3 miles and run well on all types of going. A bit sluggish after the lay-off then.

I thought Harry Derham gave Tonic Mellysse a good ride and it was disappointing to see him finish just outside of the places in fourth.

You can blame me for picking Saint Helena but I blame David Probert for getting himself into all sorts of trouble behind fading horses. She finished really well and, had she been given a chance a place was on the cards. Would she have won…we’ll never know.

    No score today.

hi matt i had great hopes for this as it was recommended by a guy called matt hodder who has seemed reasonably genuine up until now but i find this is just spiralling out of control . the results bear no relation to previous published results . i have been following since the 12 march which is just over 4 weeks and we have lost 50% of the bank . it cost £48 with no refund policy which i can understand why now .

    regards

    Fri Results

Friday results? I have no idea! I know we had a winner at Fontwell because I was beside the finish line as he passed (he won going away, Andy, and thanks for the beer! My round next time at Goodwood!)

I am in a very nice, but quaint, hotel on the south coast with internet access…except for a few types of sites that are blocked…Facebook, religious sites and, you’ve guessed it, gambling sites! I have spoken with management and the block can be lifted for specific sites (like racingpost.com) but this can only be done by the owner who is not on-site until tomorrow morning, after 9am. I have been promised that this site will be unblocked tomorrow morning.

So, providing that promise is kept I will not be able to get the selections to you until around lunchtime tomorrow. I apologise for this delay but it is completely outside of my control.

    So, until tomorrow….

Another profitable day, 4 in a row, only just profitable but a few inches denied us Riptide beaten a short head at 6.2 and would have capped the day.

Melua Maid ran a fabulous race and looked beaten before rallying but just didn’t have the steam in the last 75 yards.

Ian Mongan gave Kleitomachos an excellent ride :-)

  37. Sanj says:

    Hi,
I am new to this, and I was wondering where I place these bets. When I go in to betfair, I see 2 selections for each race, if we take the first one for example, 3:20 Wolverhampton. I see:
    15:20 7f Hcap
    15:20 To Be Placed
Which one do I select and then do I back the selected horse or lay the selected horse.
Also on some of your selections you have (AW) what does this stand for?
    Your help would be appreciated.

  38. Matt Houghton says:

    Hi Sanj,

This particular system requires you to place one point on the win and one point on the place, so you would use both markets.

You should also back rather than lay. Lay betting is backing something to lose.

    Matt

  39. Dean says:

    Tue Results

Another profitable day, 5 in a row, and as I write there is one race left to go. We are currently on a profit of 5.65 points with Somerset Island to go in the 7.40.

Zitenka was matched at 1.01 before being beaten a neck into second place.
Los Nadis was matched at 1.11 and beaten a head into second.
Finch Flyer just couldn’t hang on for a place and beaten 1/2 length into 4th.
Prince of Sorrento managed a nice 1st at BSP 6.32.

As it was we scored +1.69 points but less than a length on those three horses cost us 14.33pts; but that’s racing!

  48. brunobrooks says:

I thought I would have a dabble at very low stakes. A very poor day and looking at the previous results, it is hard to believe this makes 1000 points a year? Let’s see how it goes

  49. Sanj says:

i have also been dabbling using low stakes of £2 a point, (which then is £4 per horse as its EW) not been placing the bets every day, so maybe i am just unlucky and on picking the wrong days but so far i have had 9 horses that have actually won and 20 horses that have been placed whith a return and 55 horses that have lost and 11 horse/races that have been non runner or abandoned races. I may not have used Betfair for the bets and used other bookmakers and place the bets EW, so not sure if this will make 1000 points a year but we will have to see, hope fully the weather may get better and we may have better luck. it would be interesting to see a full results spreadsheet.

  50. Dean says:

    Thu Results

At time of writing we still have a few races to go at Brighton so I’ll report today’s P&L tomorrow.

May so far: Profit 0.76 of a point

    Fri Selections

    2.00 Musselburgh PHOENIX CLUBS
    3.00 Musselburgh SATANIC BEAT
    4.40 Wolverhampton (AW) HURAKAN
    8.00 Bangor-on-dee PLEIN POUVOIR

  51. Dean says:

    Thu Results

    Today saw 4 selections: finishing positions 3rd – 5th – 3rd – 1st

I don’t think Barry McHugh gave Phoenix Clubs the best of rides; he ran up the backside of Gran Canario Queen not once, but twice, but finished really well for third.

Satanic Beat was backed into BSP 4.43 from a tissue price of 8/1; just goes to show that the market can get it wrong as much as me!

I think James Doyle gave Hurakan a good ride and you could run that race again and I think the outcome would be the same.

Unfortunately, technology let me down and I did not see the last race, and what a shame that was…just from the result I can see that it must have been the closest finish of a two and a half mile race bar none! Just as well we bagged the winner!

Unfortunately, a 0.07 point of a loss on the day.

    Sat Selections

I look to Goodwood for these two:

    3.30 Goodwood VERY GOOD DAY
    5.15 Goodwood JOYFUL SPIRIT

As for the 2000 Gns, I will always strike out a horse not proven on the ground. So for me, at 9/1, Born To Sea looks outstanding value. Of course, at 15/8 Camelot looks like a lay opportunity if you are not sure of the winner. That is my opinion and not an offered bet, but I will be following my mouth with my money!

  52. Dean says:

    Sat Results

    Today saw 2 selections: finishing positions 3rd – 4th

Very Good Day gave us a good run for our money and stayed on for a place at BSP 2.66 netting us a 0.58 of a point profit on that race.

Joyful Spirit travelled extremely well but then ran a bit green considering it was her seventh race and was pipped for third on the line for a 2 point loss on that race.

A 1.42 point loss on the day, and that’s a 9.11 point loss so far for May.

    Sun Selections

    Just three from Hamilton tomorrow:

    2.15 Hamilton ALIVE AND KICKING
    5.10 Hamilton HONG KONG ISLAND
    5.45 Hamilton LADY DEL SOL

  53. Dean says:

    Sun Results

    Today saw 3 selections: finishing positions 1st – 5th – 3rd

Amy Ryan took off a very useful 3lb that saw Alive and Kicking beat a fast finishing Breezolini to land a win at BSP 4.03 and place 1.73 to give a 3.57 point profit

Hong Kong Island was prominent but pulled a bit to hard early on and failed to catch the Star Ferry. 2 point loss.

Another 5lb claim helped Lady Del Sol into a place at BSP 3.35, less than a length behind the winner and a 1.23 point profit.

A 2.8 point profit on the day, and a 6.31 point loss so far for May.

    Mon Selections

    2.15 Kempton (AW) RAJNAGAN
3.00 Windsor SEEK THE FAIR LAND
    3.10 Bath MY ARCH
    5.45 Bath AMAZING WIN

  54. Dean says:

    Mon Results

    Today saw 4 selections: finishing positions 8th – 1st – 5th – 5th

I was out enjoying the public holiday today so I didn’t see any of the races. I did listen to the commentaries but it’s not the same as watching the race. Still, the win by Seek The Fair Land at a BSP of 7.05 ensured a profit.

A 1.08 point profit on the day, and a 5.22 point loss so far for May.

    Tue Selections

    4.45 Southwell (AW) ART DZEKO
    7.25 Exeter NUMIDE
    7.40 Catterick POCKET TOO

  55. Dean says:

    Tue Results

    Today saw 3 selections: finishing positions 1st – 3rd – 2nd

Art Dzeko does not look the easiest of rides but was a welcome winner. Numide saw a lot of support close to flag fall but ran out of steam to land just outside of the places in third. A cracking finish for our last selection but Graham Lee was just too good and we got another second place.

A 0.88 point loss on the day.

    Wed Selections

    2.25 Southwell (AW) GRACIE´S GIFT
    2.55 Southwell (AW) PAINTED TAIL
    4.00 Southwell (AW) BOUNCY BOUNCY

  56. Dean says:

    Wed Results

    Today saw 3 selections: finishing positions 2nd – 10th – 2nd

Gracie’s Gift ran her race but had no further to give when the push came to a shove but got second at place BSP 2.08 for a break even positionon that race.

Painted Tail did absolutely nothing and I’ll be waiting for the trainer comments about the lack-lustre form on that one.

Bouncy Bouncy missed a step at the stalls and lost a couple of lengths and then ended up beaten a head into second. A bit unlucky for us there I think.

A 2.13 point loss on the day.

    Thu Selections

    4.30 Goodwood VALMINA

    6.25 Yarmouth PEARLS FROM SYDNEY

    8.25 Yarmouth THECORNISHCOCKNEY

  57. Dean says:

    Thu Results

We lost Goodwood so just the two selections.

Pearls From Sydney certainly didn’t look like a 22/1 shot after the first 3 furlongs but found absolutely nothing when off the bit. It was a tricky race though with the winner at 25/1 and off my own radar.

    Thecornishcockney is yet to run.

I’ll do a full results update tomorrow.

    9.00 Newcastle MISERERE MEI

The last selection was a non runner from Bath the day before yesterday, so appears tomorrow. Lets hope Richard Guest has picked the right race!

  65. Dean says:

    Fri Results

Just the two selections for today and Mawaakef gave us an excellent run for our money and stayed on ever so well to get third at 20/1. Our hopes now rest on Richard Guest having selected the right race for Miserere Mei at 9pm.

We are currenlty 3.71 points up today so whatever happens we are in for a profitable day today :-)

  66. Dean says:

    Sat Results

I was at Newmarket races today and I’m writing this using my iPhone as a modem, not the best of bandwidths! I saw the results from the Rowley Mile course and I believe two of our three selections today placed for a small profit.

    Sun Selections
    3.10 Ripon RAY OF JOY

    3.50 Stratford SAPPHIRE ROUGE

    4.10 Ripon LICENCE TO TILL

5.10 Ripon ON THE HIGH TOPS

  67. Dean says:

    Sun Results

Ray of Joy was a non runner so first up was Sapphire Rouge who came under pressure with still a circuit to go but stayed on really well only to be pipped on the line for third spot at a nice price.

Licence to Till was given every chance but couldn’t seem to handle the pace and finished 6th.

On The High Tops was very disappointing.

Not a single groat returned today so a 6 point loss. The end of another week so I’ll be updating the results spreadsheet tomorrow and I’ll send out in the morning.

  69. Dean says:

    Wed Results

The Dazzler got Abi Scarlet home in front but at a rather skinny 2.04 BSP. But I’ll take the 1.34 points profit from the each way bet. Trecase was withdrawn down at the start. The Lock Master looked outpaced at halfway but he stays all day and managed to get up for the win at 3.71 and 1.54 for a 3.09 point profit.

Lindoro was the hottest selection today in terms of price and then ran the worst race of the four as Passato stayed on gamely to win at 4.19 and 1.97 for a profit of 3.95 on that race.

Overall, 3 winners from 4 selections and a profit of 8.38 points today.

    Thu Selections

    Hi brunobrooks,

The selections mentioned above won’t be included in the results at the top of this page. I’m not doubting what Dean has said at all but they haven’t been proofed, so won’t be recorded for the purposes of the Betting Rant trial.

A beautiful day here in Cambridge and a very busy day with the selections. I’m not going to give a write up for each one, not because there are so many, but at 6.30 this evening, with the majority of the selections to run, I’ll be sat outside the cricket pavilion watching the local side and downing one or two ice cold beers! I’ll be watching on the iPad, of course!

Hence this email being a tad later than usual. I am writing this preamble at 12 noon and then I’ll get onto tomorrow’s cards. I shall finish off after 8.30 this evening once the overnight going is declared. Not dissimilar to every day really :-)

I had a bit of an email backlog but I believe I have answered all questions sent up to this morning. If you have not had a response from me then I apologise and I will have to ask you to re-submit and I’ll get straight on it.

So, just the finishing positions for Friday:

    5 – 2 – 3 – 2 – 9 – 1 – 3 – 7

And the result on the day? Well, Ballyvoneen was a nice winner at 8.8 and we had a fair amount of places for a 3.04 points profit today. Nice to have three winning days in a row :-)

    Sat Selections

Well, what I thought would be a very busy day has turned into a bit of a squib. I don’t think we’ll be making a fortune from these three:

    3.20 Goodwood GRUMETI
    6.30 Lingfield OH SO SPICY
    7.15 Newbury CRUISER

  75. Dean says:

    Sat Results

Only one selection has run so far and Grumeti could only manage second so the tiniest of profits on that race. 2 Selections to go.

    Sun Selections

I’ve finished going through tomorrow’s cards and there are just the two jumps meetings at Fakenham and Kelso and while I do throw in the odd national hunt selection over the summer, they are few and far between and I can offer up nothing from these two tracks tomorrow…so, a no bet day.

Good luck if you have a punt in the Irish 1000 Guineas…Homecoming Queen will certainly be a short enough price!

  76. Dean says:

    Sun Results

    No selections today.

    Mon Selections
I hoped you avoided Homecoming Queen. The market got that one right. No support all day and had no answers when asked questions.

  77. Dean says:

    ADVANCE WARNING
I’m off to Windsor Races Saturday evening but I am going to Windsor tomorrow afternoon and not coming back until Sunday afternoon so my responses to emails will be slower than usual and the next couple of emails will be short and sweet :-)

Mudish went off at 29.7 and traded as low as 1.68 in running as he was pulled back in the final 50 yds. Timeform Radio commented that he could not have been on many people’s radar but he was on ours and we got 7.2 for the third place.

What the heck! Mirco Demuro finished a circuit too soon. What can you do, eh? He’ll get a few days off but we don’t get any money back. I’m sorry, but he deserves to miss Royal Ascot for that.

Finally a non runner and Italian Tom who did not fancy it today.

A 0.89pt profit on the day despite Demuro’s efforts.

    Fri Selections

    6.30 Bath SOUTH CAPE

    8.00 Goodwood PARTY LINE

    9.10 Bath PASSATO

  86. Dean says:

    Sat Results
I’m off to Windsor this evening so I looked at tomorrows cards this afternoon but nothing stands out in the two jumps cards tomorrow.

I’ll be back Sunday evening with Monday’s selections; there are a couple of good races at Pontefract I am looking forward to.

    Sun Selections

No national hunt selections for Sunday

  87. Dean says:

    Mon Selections

Firstly, let me apologise for not getting an email out last night. The problem is the rain we are experiencing across the country. One of the biggest factors I take into consideration is the going and we have seen quite a lot of going changes over the past few weeks and I am expecting today to be no exception.

There is no point in me spending hours going through cards with going descriptions of good or good to soft knowing that the rain is still falling and that these will probably change to soft or worse.

So, there are no selections from me today, nor tomorrow if the rain keeps falling.

I’ll be back later with an update.

  88. Dean says:

    Tue Selections

I’ll be swerving the heavy ground at Lingfield but I do have a couple on the all weather at what could be some nice prices and one over the birch at Southwell that I like the look of:

    3.50 Lingfield (AW) MIA´S BOY

    4.50 Lingfield (AW) DIDDUMS

    6.40 Southwell ANOTHER TRUMP

  89. Dean says:

    Tue Results

I was out all day today so I did not see any of the racing but I see we were touched off a neck at 10.68 into a place position. Diddums and Another Trump were not at the races today.
    Wed Selections

We were right to give the heavy ground a miss and I have been looking very closely at the going for tomorrow. Yarmouth ius OK and they are even thinking about watering even though showers are expected. I have been to Yarmouth a few times and they way the wind whips in from the sea does have a rapid drying effect. Haydock is already soft in places with rain forecast. Hamilton and Beverley are OK but I cant find anything of interest there so just:

    2.40 Yarmouth KISS A PRINCE

    3.40 Yarmouth FATHSTA

    9.10 Kempton (AW) OCEAN LEGEND

  90. Dean says:

    Tue Results

A close finish to the 2.40 and we were touched of into 4th for no return. Fathsta was nowhere so hopes rest on Ocean Legend to get a return for the day.
    Wed Selections

    2.30 Nottingham FULL SHILLING

    3.05 Nottingham BIG WAVE

    3.50 Yarmouth WAHYLAH

    4.10 Nottingham PIAZZA SAN PIETRO

    4.20 Yarmouth GO AMWELL

    4.55 Yarmouth LIKE CLOCKWORK

    5.25 Yarmouth DALMO

    5.45 Nottingham MY SISTER

    7.10 Hereford ROYAL RIVIERA

  91. Dean says:

    Thu Results

    Finishing positions:

    2nd – 1st – 3rd – 0 – NR – 0 – 3rd – 1st

A 1.25 point profit on the day.
    Fri Selections

I had two selections for Musselburgh but neither of them like it softer than soft and with more rain forecast I’ll skip those. Similarly, Proud Cheiftain at Sandown has wins on good or better and with showers predicted I think that puts a big question mark over him.

At Aintree My Moment has wins on most surfaces, won over the distance and at Aintree, the trainer/jockey parnership is firing. I dont mind if the rains come for this one.

Rebel Dancer in the 7.00 was my other Aintree pick but the ground is an issue so I’ll swerve.

At Sandown, Moretta Blanche will not mind it getting softer.

    So just these two tomorrow:

    6.25 Aintree MY MOMENT

    7.25 Goodwood MORETTA BLANCHE

  92. Dean says:

    Fri Results
It’s currently 5.40 so we have 2 selections running for us later

    Sat Selections
I have quite a lot that I like for tomorrow but we still have doubts on the weather so just these :

    8.05 Lingfield (AW) JUMEIRAH LIBERTY

8.35 Lingfield (AW) KING OF WINDSOR

  93. Dean says:

    Sat Results

Have you been watching the rain fall over the country today? I would not liked to have been at Hexham nor York this afternoon!

The Saturday selections at Lingfield run later…fingers crossed for those.
    Sun Selections

I found it difficult to believe that I have nothing from Salisbury and Doncaster tomorrow. Sometimes it happens like that so I shall be enjoying the local cricket team tomorrow afternoon with a couple of jars and get back to you with Monday’s selections tomorrow evening.

  94. Dean says:

    Sun Results
    We had no selections Sunday

    Mon Selections
And, as amazing as it sounds, we have no selections for Monday. The class 4 event at Carlisle is a fillies only race, I dont like My Kingdom at Warwick, Windsor could end up soft and the only decent race at Dunstall Park is a lottery.

    Back for Tuesday’s racing tomorrow.

  95. Dean says:

    Tue Selections
It looks like we have genuinely good ground at Brighton tomorrow with no rain forecast so I have made a concentrated effort for all handicaps there. Only one handicap to work with at Ascot. Thirsk is good to soft with rain forecast.

    5.00 Ascot SIMENON

    6.00 Brighton FESTIVAL DANCE

    7.00 Brighton COCOHATCHEE

    7.30 Brighton MUSICALLY

    8.00 Brighton WIND STAR

    8.30 Brighton ZAEEM

    9.00 Brighton CUT THE CACKLE

  96. Dean says:

    Tue Results
My apologies for the late email but I was watching the footy. Just checked the going for tomorrow and a quick check on the results.

    Finishing Positions

    1st – 1st – NR – 0 – NR – 1st – 2nd

    A quick sum and I think it’s a 15.65 point profit today.

    Wed Selections
    2.55 Hamilton BARKSTON ASH

    5.55 Hamilton LADY GARGOYLE

    6.10 Kempton (AW) CALA SANTANYI

    7.10 Kempton (AW) ELKHART

  97. Dean says:

    Wed Results

    Finishing Positions

    1st ~ 0 ~ 0 ~ 0

    +1.99 ~ -2.00 ~ -2.00 ~ -2.00

    So, that’s a 4.01 point loss today.

    Thu Selections

    5.35 Ascot URIAH HEEP

  98. Dean says:

    Wed Results

Just the one unplaced selection today.

    So, that’s a 2 point loss today.

    Fri Selections

    4.25 Ascot RETRIEVE

    5.35 Ascot GOSSAMER SEED

    7.45 Ayr ABLE MASTER

    7.55 Goodwood WOOLFALL TREASURE

    8.15 Ayr ORATORY

    8.50 Ayr ROKER PARK

    9.00 Goodwood LE KING BEAU

  99. Dean says:

    Fri Results

I think about a +9.6 points profit today.

    Sat Selections

    1.55 Ayr DOCTOR PARKES

    5.00 Ascot FIERY LAD

    5.15 Ayr COOL MACAVITY

    7.05 Lingfield SOWETO STAR

    8.05 Lingfield ROODEE QUEEN

  100. Dean says:

    Sat Results

Cool Macavity brings home the bacon in fine style at a BSP’s of 14.61 & 4.2 to land a profit of 12 points and bring June into profit for the 23 days.

    Sun Selections

Well, its not often I see the clock say 6. something on a Sunday morning! I can find nothing that stands out over the jumps at this time of year but Pontefract have put together a lovely meeting it’s a shame they haven’t got good ground up there and with rain forecast I have looked at this with SOFT as the underfoot (underhoof?) conditions.

    2.40 Pontefract KATHLATINO

    3.10 Pontefract ROBEMAKER

    5.10 Pontefract DANCHEUR

  101. Dean says:

    Sun Results
Kathlatino ran her race and we could not expect more than the place she got, I think. The 2.83 for the place ensured a small profit on that race.

Robemaker was almost ditto but with 50 yards to go Buick dropped his hands…we’ll have to check the BHA web site for an explanation of that, not that I thought he could have made a place.

    Loss of 1.26 points today

    Mon Selections
At time of downloading the cards (2pm Sun) the Clerk at Chepstow has called for an inspection tomorrow describing the course as waterlogged in places. So I will not waste my time looking at that one.

No rain is forecast for Thirsk or Windsor but Windsor is a three year old fest so just these for tomorrow:

     6.50 Thirsk BOCAMIX

     7.50 Thirsk INGLEBY EXCEED

     8.20 Thirsk IDEALISM

     9.20 Thirsk FAMA MAC
