Following up from this morning’s free tip, I have eight more for you courtesy of Luke Towler.

Enjoy this week’s column and, as ever, if you have any comments for either myself or Luke you can reach us at bettingrant@agorapub.co.uk.

Swings and roundabouts

Not a bad week last time out with the rugby very positive, with the exception of Scotland picking up enough points to beat the handicap…

New Zealand dominated and England looked superb for 60 minutes – they got off to a slow start before ripping shreds out of the Boks’ before easing off the gas for the final 10 minutes.

As you punting folk will no doubt understand, there is no feeling like being in a public place watching the game with your team 16 points up (looking to beat the 10 point handicap) with the other side threatening the try line!

Luckily England had enough stubbornness to stop any more points from leaking out.

Across the pond the Cowboys (8/1) defied the odds and took the W, while Minnesota Vikings also looked prime to take a good value win but after zooming up to the 20 yard line with a new set of downs and over one minute left on the clock couldn’t go any further much to my annoyance…

Instead of making progress their quarter back got sacked!

Very annoying, but as I told my bank manager, these things happen now and then.

One tip that went straight over my head last week was Conor McGregor to beat Alvarez – there will be some shouting “no sh*t Sherlock”, but going into the fight Mac was trading around the 1.75 mark.

Now take a look at the odds of Mayweather, Joshua and Haye when fighting and you’ll be lucky to get 1.10.

Boxing from a punting point of view is a dead sport and it is a very rare occurrence for a fight to offer any decent value.

MMA on the other hand is full of it with most cards having two fighters facing up with very similar prices – I will keep you guys and gals (they bet too!) posted on any MMA value forthcoming!
